Dr. Nikhil Mahant

Nikhil Mahant is a philosopher specializing in the philosophy of language, with further research interests in the philosophy of mind, artificial intelligence, metaphysics, and ethics. His published work addresses foundational questions

concerning the semantics of proper names, propositions, the nature of intelligence, as well as moral agency, moral responsibility, and deception in the context of AI systems. His current research focuses on religious language, ineffability, and altered states of consciousness. He has held research and teaching positions at Uppsala University, Central European University (CEU) in Vienna, and St. Stephen's College, Delhi. He was educated at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi and the University of Delhi, and received his PhD from CEU in 2022.
