Wellbeing Services

Your wellbeing is an important part of your success at university. At UWA India, we are committed to creating a safe, inclusive and supportive environment where students can thrive academically, socially and personally.
Whether you are facing challenges with your mental health, adjusting to university life, managing stress, or experiencing a personal crisis, support is available. We encourage students to seek help early and connect with the wellbeing services and resources designed to support them throughout their university journey.
Mental health and wellbeing
University life can be exciting, but it can also bring challenges. Managing study, work, family responsibilities and personal expectations can sometimes feel overwhelming.
Looking after your mental health and wellbeing involves recognising when you need support and taking positive steps to care for yourself. We encourage students to:
- Maintain healthy routines, including sleep, nutrition and physical activity
- Build positive social connections and a sense of belonging
- Develop strategies to manage stress and academic pressure
- Seek support when challenges begin to affect their wellbeing
- Take time to rest, reflect and engage in activities they enjoy.
At UWA India, wellbeing is viewed as a whole-person experience that includes emotional, social, physical and academic wellbeing. Our goal is to help students develop resilience, confidence and the skills needed to succeed both during and beyond university.
Counselling support
Professional counselling support is available to students who may be experiencing personal, emotional or psychological difficulties.
Students may seek counselling for a wide range of concerns, including:
- Stress and anxiety
- Low mood or depression
- Academic pressure
- Relationship difficulties
- Homesickness or adjustment challenges
- Grief and loss
- Family concerns
- Self-esteem and confidence issues
- Personal development and goal setting.
Counselling provides a confidential and supportive space to discuss concerns, explore coping strategies and identify practical ways forward. Our wellbeing team can help connect students with appropriate support services and resources based on their individual needs.
Seeking support is a sign of strength. Early support can help prevent challenges from becoming more difficult to manage and improve overall wellbeing and academic success.
Wellbeing resources
Students are encouraged to access a range of wellbeing resources that support positive mental health and healthy lifestyle habits.
These resources may include:
- Self-help and wellbeing tools — Access practical information, guides and activities that support emotional wellbeing, resilience and stress management.
- Workshops and wellbeing programs — Participate in sessions focused on topics such as mindfulness, time management, study-life balance, resilience and mental health awareness.
- Health and Lifestyle Support — Learn about healthy habits, physical activity, sleep, nutrition and other factors that contribute to overall wellbeing.
UWA India is committed to providing students with resources that help them stay connected, informed and supported throughout their academic journey.
Crisis support
If you or someone you know is experiencing a mental health crisis or requires immediate assistance, support is available.
A crisis situation may include:
- Thoughts of self-harm
- Suicidal thoughts
- Severe emotional distress
- Experiencing or witnessing violence
- Immediate concerns for personal safety
- Any situation where urgent support is needed
If there is an immediate risk to life or safety, contact local emergency services immediately.
Students who are experiencing a crisis should reach out to an appropriate crisis support service, healthcare professional, trusted family member, friend, or member of the UWA India Student Wellbeing team as soon as possible.
Remember: you do not have to face difficult situations alone. Help is available, and seeking support early can make a significant difference.
