Campus Safety and Security

We are committed to providing a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment for students, staff, and visitors. Maintaining a secure campus is a shared responsibility, supported through building security measures, emergency preparedness processes, and clear reporting pathways for safety concerns.
As a student, you are encouraged to familiarise yourself with campus safety procedures and report any concerns.
Campus safety and physical security
UWA India works with building management and campus staff to maintain a safe learning environment.
- on-site security personnel

- 24-hour CCTV monitoring. CCTV coverage within UWA-controlled premises may differ from general building CCTV coverage
- building emergency response and evacuation procedures
- designated ground level assembly points.
- security personnel at both building entry gates
- QR-based building entry and visitor management through the Converge app
- CCTV monitoring operating 24 hours a day
- a dedicated security command centre
- three levels of building security, including perimeter entry controls, baggage screening at the building entrance and access controls at the lifts
- an onsite Emergency Response Team

Personal safety
Students are encouraged to:
- remain aware of their surroundings when travelling to and from campus
- follow directions provided by UWA India staff and building security personnel
- keep personal belongings and access credentials secure
- use safe and authorised transport options
- follow online and cyber safety guidance
- report suspicious activity, hazards or security concerns promptly.
Safety information may also be provided through orientation, student communications and campus awareness activities.
Emergency procedures
In an emergency:
- Move away from immediate danger, if it is safe to do so.
- Call 112 where there is an immediate threat to life or safety.
- Follow instructions from emergency services, UWA India staff, building management or building security personnel.
- Notify the UWA India Campus Team or building security as soon as it is safe to do so.
- Do not re-enter an evacuated area until authorised to do so.
At the Mumbai campus, the building’s security and lost property office is located near the loading bay.
Students must participate in required emergency drills and familiarise themselves with emergency exits, assembly areas and campus instructions.
Reporting incidents and physical hazards
Reporting security concerns, property damage, or suspicious activity early helps maintain a safe campus for everyone. If you experience or observe a safety concern, reporting it promptly allows the University to assess risks, provide support where appropriate, and take action to help maintain a safe campus environment. This includes:
- suspicious activity or unauthorised access
- threats, harassment or concerning behaviour
- theft, property damage or lost property
- unlit areas, damaged locks or unsafe walkways
- electrical faults or damaged infrastructure
- fire or evacuation hazards
- any incident affecting personal or campus safety.
How to report
Students can report concerns by contacting:
- a member of the UWA India Campus Team
- building security personnel
- emergency services if urgent assistance is required.
