Your work area

The Industry Advisory function within UWA India supports development of external engagement and industry collaboration activities that connect academic programs with workforce, professional, and sector priorities across the Mumbai and Chennai campuses. The function works across academic and operational areas of the University to facilitate industry participation in learning, research, and institutional initiatives.

Operating within the broader Operations portfolio, the Industry Advisory function contributes to establishment of sustainable partnerships and engagement frameworks that support graduate employability, industry connected learning, and the ongoing development of UWA India.

Your Role

The Industry Advisory Manager leads engagement with industry, government, and professional sectors to ensure academic programs and institutional initiatives remain informed by workforce and professional practice expectations. The role facilitates industry participation across academic and institutional activities, enabling industry connected learning opportunities and collaboration aligned with the establishment and growth of UWA India.

The Industry Advisory Manager contributes to establishment of sustainable industry networks through a coordinated approach to engagement that supports academic relevance, graduate employability, institutional visibility, and long-term external collaboration.

Your Key Responsibilities

The position undertakes the following duties:

  • Develop and manage relationships with industry, government, and professional organisations to support UWA India’s academic and workforce engagement objectives.
  • Act as a primary institutional contact for external partners engaging with UWA India across priority disciplines and sectors.
  • Engage industry partners to identify opportunities for collaboration aligned with academic programs and institutional priorities.
  • Coordinate ongoing engagement activities that sustain active industry participation with UWA India.
  • Establish and coordinate industry advisory engagement that informs program relevance, emerging skills needs, and workforce expectations.
  • Facilitate industry participation in academic activities including advisory forums, guest engagement, and applied learning initiatives aligned with academic programs.
  • Enable internship, placement, mentoring, and industry project opportunities that support student employability and industry engagement outcomes.
  • Work with academic and professional teams to align industry opportunities with program requirements and institutional priorities.
  • Progress industry partnership arrangements in collaboration with internal stakeholders, ensuring alignment with institutional policies and requirements.
  • Ensure industry engagement activities operate within approved governance, contractual, and regulatory frameworks.
  • Represent UWA India in industry, professional, and government forums to promote institutional engagement and collaboration.
  • Promote awareness of UWA India programs and capabilities across relevant industry sectors.
  • Plan and coordinate industry engagement initiatives, events, and advisory activities across UWA India.
  • Monitor partnership outcomes and engagement effectiveness to inform ongoing improvement and strategic development.
  • Perform other duties as directed.

Your Specific Work Capabilities (Selection Criteria)

Essential

  • A relevant tertiary qualification in business, education, industry engagement, public policy, or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and education.
  • Demonstrated experience developing and managing partnerships with industry, government, and/or professional organisations within a complex organisational environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to engage senior external stakeholders and build productive professional relationships.
  • Experience coordinating industry engagement initiatives, advisory activities, or collaborative programs aligned with workforce or sector needs.
  • Strong organisational and project coordination skills, including the ability to manage multiple initiatives and competing priorities.
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills, including the ability to represent organisational interests with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated understanding of governance, compliance, and contractual processes relevant to external partnerships or collaborative arrangements.

Desirable

  • Experience working within a higher education, multicultural, and/or international environment.
