Your work area

The Student Experience directorate is accountable for the design and delivery of all student facing services and programs across the student lifecycle, from enrolment through to graduation.

The directorate is accountable for student administration; including admissions coordination, enrolment, student records, fees, progression, and graduation; student services and success programs, counselling and wellbeing support, accessibility services, co-curricular engagement, and industry engagement and placement programs.

It holds responsibility for student conduct and grievance processes and critical incident response, ensuring that all services operate within UWA policy and applicable Indian higher education regulatory requirements, and maintains student-facing service standards and a customer experience framework across all student services functions.

The directorate holds accountability for industry engagement and placement programs, connecting students with professional development and employment opportunities across campuses. It works collaboratively with the Education and Research directorate, the Operations directorate, and external partners to ensure that student services are integrated, culturally responsive, and capable of supporting positive student outcomes, wellbeing, and progression.

Your Role

The Training and Placement Officer supports delivery of Work Integrated Learning (WIL) and industry placement activities for students across UWA India. The role coordinates placement processes, maintains placement records, and assists students and host organisations to ensure placement activities operate smoothly and in accordance with institutional requirements.

The role supports effective student participation in placement opportunities and contributes to delivery of industry engagement initiatives that connect students with professional development and employment opportunities aligned with their academic programs.

Your Key Responsibilities

The position undertakes the following duties:

  • Coordinate administrative processes associated with student placements and Work Integrated Learning activities.
  • Ensure students complete required placement documentation and comply with institutional placement requirements.
  • Schedule and coordinate student appointments relating to placements and WIL programs.
  • Respond to enquiries from students regarding placement requirements, processes, and program activities.
  • Respond to enquiries from host organisations and coordinate placement arrangements in accordance with program requirements.
  • Liaise with internal teams and external stakeholders to facilitate placement activities and resolve operational matters.
  • Maintain effective working relationships with host organisations and industry partners to support WIL program delivery.
  • Coordinate information sessions, promotional activities, and events related to WIL programs.
  • Assist with preparation of promotional materials and WIL resources in collaboration with relevant teams.
  • Maintain accurate records of placement students and host organisations.
  • Maintain placement records, documentation, and related administrative systems in accordance with privacy and data management requirements.
  • Monitor placement administration processes and suggest improvements to systems and procedures where appropriate.
  • Work collaboratively with academic and professional staff to support coordinated delivery of placement and WIL programs.
  • Participate in team activities and professional development to support effective delivery of placement and industry engagement services.
  • Perform other duties as directed.

Your Specific Work Capabilities (Selection Criteria)

Essential

  • Tertiary qualification in business administration, education, career development, or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and education.
  • Demonstrated experience providing administrative or program coordination support within an education, student services, or comparable service delivery environment.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to maintain accurate records and manage administrative systems and workflows.
  • Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with students, employers, and internal stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret and apply policies, procedures, and operational guidelines.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and experience maintaining administrative or student-related systems.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail and ability to exercise discretion when handling student or organisational information.

Desirable

  • Experience coordinating student placements, Work Integrated Learning activities, internships, or similar programs.
  • Experience working in a multicultural or international education environment.
