About the scholarship

The Premier Academic Award is UWA India’s flagship scholarship, recognising exceptional academic achievement and outstanding contributions beyond the classroom. It supports high‑achieving students from Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu to excel at UWA India.

Value

100% tuition fee waiver for the standard full-time duration of your course.

Number available

Up to six scholarships are awarded each year:

  • Three scholarships will be awarded to students in Maharashtra
  • Three scholarships will be awarded to students in Tamil Nadu

Eligibility

You may be eligible if you:

  • Are an Indian citizen domiciled in Maharashtra or Tamil Nadu
  • Are a commencing student at UWA India
  • Achieve an aggregate score of at least 90% in your previous qualification
  • Demonstrate outstanding achievement, in areas such as other academic achievements, leadership, community involvement, the arts or sport

How to apply

Applications are now open and close 15 July 2026. If you are an Indian citizen and have applied to study at UWA India, you will receive an email inviting you to submit an online scholarship application.

For guidance on submitting evidence of outstanding achievements, please refer to the Applicant Guide (PDF 129KB).  

As part of your application, you will be asked to provide:

  • Evidence of academic achievement
  • A Statement of Purpose
  • Evidence of outstanding achievements in academics, leadership, community involvement, the arts, or sport.

Shortlisted candidates will be required to attend an interview.

The University of Western Australia is working closely with the University Grants Commission (UGC) to obtain the necessary approvals for its proposed campuses and course offerings in India. Scholarships and bursaries will be offered on a provisional basis, and a final offer issued once the required UGC approvals and any other required approvals have been received.
